As the demand for robust sustainability evidence continues to grow, the session focused on the role of CIBSE TM65 and the Embodied Carbon Verification (ECV) Scheme in supporting consistent calculation methods and building market confidence.

Key Lessons:

• CIBSE TM65 provides a consistent methodology for calculating embodied carbon in MEP products where EPDs are unavailable.
• The Embodied Carbon Verification (ECV) provides confidence that CIBSE TM65 calculations are accurate, consistent, and transparent.
• CIBSE makes embodied carbon data of MEP products available to the market via the ECV register, and aims to make further information available via an API.

• Promote the importance of measuring embodied carbon data accurately for MEP systems in buildings.
• In the absence of EPDs, encourage manufacturers to have their CIBSE TM65s calculations verified by CIBSE, with permission to share.
