Renewals 2020/2021

Thank you to a significant number of you that have already paid your renewal fee.

If you have paid your renewal fee your certificate and ID card is currently being printed and will be sent as long as certification requirements are met. There is a newly issued Code of Conduct rev 13, which we had to revise following an MHCLG audit earlier in the year that you will need to sign.

The CIBSE Certification Code of Conduct is now available on the CIBSE Certification website.

Please download the Code of Conduct and return a signed copy to epc@cibsecertification.org and we will update your profile.

The new MHCLG Register is now live

The new MHCLG register went live on 20 September. We hosted a webinar on 18 September that discussed the changes that you should be aware of. A recording of this is available for you to access.

The webinar includes essential information for anyone that lodges energy certificates.

Watch recording

We are receiving a lot of interesting feedback on the new arrangement and it might help to read an e-mail that we have had from the Department announcing the new service from their perspective. View now.

Please follow the links found on the above link to have a look at the new register if you haven’t already.

If you have any feedback could I encourage you to use the feedback link at the top of the landing page. The search for an assessor facility has limitations in our view, for example, try to find your nearest air conditioning inspector or Level 5 EPC assessor.

On a positive note, the future of EPCs consultation response and associated action plan do make interesting reading.

Finally on this topic, in another e-mail from the Department I have received this message:

Appendix 6.4 Bringing the Energy Performance of Buildings Industry into disrepute
“Where Accreditation Schemes believe and have strong evidence that the member is bringing the energy performance of buildings industry into disrepute, the member shall be suspended immediately pending further investigations and if the claims are proven, revoke the membership.”

MHCLG will consider energy assessors sharing imitation energy certificates obtained by scraping or HTML-PDF conversion to be bringing the energy performance of buildings industry into disrepute.

I don’t think that this has been an issue in the non-domestic arena, but just in case, I thought I should let you know the Department's views on this. This ties in with the messaging on their new register mentioned in the above article.

Code of Conduct updated

The CIBSE Certification Code of Conduct has been revised and is now available on the CIBSE Certification website.

Please download the Code of Conduct and return a signed copy to epc@cibsecertification.org and we will update your profile.
