New Register

As mentioned in previous newsletters, MHCLG are developing a new EPC/DEC/ACI register for England, Wales and N. Ireland. During this process opportunities for improvements have been identified which resulted in a delay to the launch date. Currently, there is a view that the register will be live at some point in September.

We will continue to keep you all up to date when more details are available.

Release of patches to iSBEM_v5.6.a and iSBEM_v4.1.g
The digital authentication for iSBEM expires on 15 September 2020, five days before the new register goes live which will require a new version of the software. To cover the five day interim, two software patches: one each for v5.6.a and v4.1.g. (for use in NI) have been produced.

These patches replace Landmark’s existing certificates in EPCgen and allow the generation of EPC XML files for buildings in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland (starting now and) beyond the 15 September 2020, which should ensure the continuation of service under the existing system of the E&W and NI EPC register until the new register goes live.

These two patches are now available on the UK-NCM website, from the “Download” pages for each of England, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

NB: The above mentioned digital certificates are irrelevant to the generation of XML files for EPCs in Scotland, which do not require an internet connection (Scotland has a separate EPC register to those used for E&W and NI) and should carry on uninterrupted, with or without the abovementioned patch for iSBEM_v5.6.a.

The new MHCLG register and upcoming webinar
The go live date for the new register is Sunday, 20 September.

This will involve a number of changes in the way that you lodge certificates and therefore to help with this a webinar will take place at 11.00 (BST) on Friday, 18 September where we will go through as much of the detail as possible in readiness for the following week. You will also have the opportunity to submit questions throughout the webinar for the team to answer.

What do we already know about the new register?

  • This is not a simple like for like register replacement
  • The software that you use will have an updated version for use with the new register
  • Our changeover time will be 10.00 - 12.00 (BST) on Sunday 20 September so you will not be able to lodge during this period.
  • You should be able to update any live projects to the newer version of the software

Code of Conduct updated

The CIBSE Certification Code of Conduct has been revised and is now available on the CIBSE Certification website.

Please download the Code of Conduct and return a signed copy to epc@cibsecertification.org and we will update your profile.

Correct use of logos

We have noticed that quite a few of our registrants are still using old versions of the logos on their documentation and collateral.

For LCEAs the logos and guidance are available to download from the lodgement portal, all other LCCs, ESOS LA’s and HNC registrants can request them from us at epc@cibsecertification.org

Kind regards,
