As the built environment moves towards decarbonisation, understanding and reducing whole life carbon has never been more critical. While not yet in place, the proposed amendment to the Building Regulations Part Z would make it mandatory to undertake WLCA assessments for buildings.

Eligibility Requirements

Evidence of Competence based on “RICS Standard ‘Whole Life Carbon Assessment for the Built Environment – 2nd Edition 2023’”.

  • WLCA Examination Certificate provided by CIBSE Training “Whole Life Carbon Assessment (WLCA) Practitioner Training”
  • WLCA course Examination Certificate provided by RICS "Certificate in Whole Life Carbon Assessment Training Programme"

Other courses with assessments may be considered for suitability on an ad hoc basis. 

How to Apply

  1. Download the WLCA application pack
  2. Complete the application form and submit your signed application, PII certificate, signed Code of Conduct, and any other supporting documentation to:
    epc@cibsecertification.org
  3. Once we receive your application, we will advise you of payment of the application fee.
  4. Once the application has been approved we will confirm the registration fee.
