Become a CIBSE Certification Low Carbon Energy Assessor (LCEA) to produce non-domestic Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs)
CIBSE Certification's schemes are for competent personnel who provide robust, impartial knowledge and guidance in the design and operation of energy efficient buildings, and management systems.
All schemes conform to the requirements of ISO 17024:2012 and registrants must comply with competency requirements, our code of conduct, maintain appropriate insurance and meet our CPD requirements.
Join CIBSE Certification's register of Low Carbon Consultants to demonstrate competence in providing Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) and Display Energy Certificates (DECs). Our EPC and DEC Assessor competency schemes are the only operating Energy Assessor schemes accredited by UKAS.
What is a CIBSE Certification Low Carbon Energy Assessor?
Low Carbon Energy Assessors (LCEAs) provide Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) and Display Energy Certificates (DECs). The requirement for EPCs was introduced on 6 April 2008 under the Energy Performance in Buildings Regulations (EPB Regulations) for any non-domestic buildings that were bought, sold or rented. The requirement for DECs was introduced in June 2008 for buildings occupied by public authorities. Energy certificates can only be provided by certified energy assessors who are members of an approved scheme such as CIBSE Certification Ltd.
LCEAs also produce Air Conditioning Inspection Reports (ACIR). The Energy Performance of Buildings (Certificates and Inspections) (England and Wales) Regulations 2007 require inspections of all air conditioning systems with rated outputs over 12 kW at intervals not greater than 5 years.
LCEAs join the CIBSE Certification register of highly competent individuals who are able to help clients minimise the carbon emissions of their buildings, both in design and operation by doing more than simply ‘counting carbon’.
CIBSE Certification LCEAs carry out tailored energy assessments (EPC, DEC and A/C) that not only identify the most relevant, cost effective solutions to improve the energy efficiency for your buildings but also your business needs.
Our LCEAs are industry leaders who provide, alongside the required energy certificate, an accompanying thorough report which helps you to put the advice given by our LCEAs into practice. By choosing an LCEA, you can be sure you are getting the very best advice available, and are engaging an experienced, certified practitioner with the ability to steer a project through to realised carbon and cost savings, whatever your carbon aspirations.
