FAQs

CIBSE Certification is accepting new applications for NABERS UK Assessor Registration, Training, Energy for Offices and Design for Performance from 1st July.

We are expecting a large number of enquiries and application throughout July, and as the process of transferring NABERS UK contracts from BRE is ongoing this may impact our response times.

Once the transfer of an Assessor or DFP contract has been processed  by CIBSE Certification, and current status reviewed and confirmed with NABERS, the status upon transfer will be listed in our Online Registers

Please bear with us over the next weeks, and we will respond to your queries and process applications as quickly as possible.

NABERS UK

CIBSE's current licence agreement covers buildings located in the UK, though we are aware of interest from organisations with assets based in the Republic of Ireland. if there is sufficient interest we would be happy to recommend expanding the scheme to NABERS. If this is something you would support please feel to contact us at epc@cibsecertification.org.

Assessors

I’m a licensed NABERS UK Assessor. What happens to my licence?

BRE will have contacted all current Assessor licence holders directly, to arrange the novation (transfer) of licences to CIBSE Certification. If you have any queries regarding this process, or have changed your contact details since originally registering with BRE, please contact BRE directly, at enquiries@bregroup.com clearly marked “Attention NABERS UK Team”.

Once the transfer has been processed by CIBSE Certification, and status reviewed and confirmed with NABERS, NABERS UK Assessors will be listed on our register

If your Assessor licence is due for renewal or has recently expired, BRE will have contacted and informed you to apply to re-register as a NABERS UK Assessor with CIBSE Certification.

I have qualified as a NABERS UK Assessor but have not taken out an Assessor licence. Is my qualification still valid?

Once you have completed your training and passed all required examinations you are eligible to apply for a NABERS UK Assessor licence within one year of successfully passing the examinations. Candidates who do not apply for a licence within this period will need to retake the course to regain eligibility for licensing.

New Assessor licence registrations will be processed by CIBSE Certification from 1st July.

I have not yet completed the Whole Building and Tenancy (WBT) training revisions. What does this mean?

Please note that to ensure the validity of your Assessor licence, or to be allowed to renew your licence, you are required to be upskilled in the Whole Building and Tenancy training. Any Assessors who have only completed the original Base Building training course, will not be permitted to renew their licence until they have successfully completed the full training course.

Please be reminded that if you were transferred over to the NABERS Learn platform from BRE Academy, and have not yet completed the Whole Building and Tenancy training, the deadline to complete this free of charge session was the 1st May 2024. If you have not completed the course by then, you will no longer have access and need to re-enrol at your own cost.

I have not completed my NABERS Assessor training and wonder what to do?

Please login on to your course at https://naberslearn.litmos.com.au/account/login/ or contact your course provider.

Any trainees who have successfully completed the course may apply to be a NABERS UK Assessor with CIBSE.

My building has received a NABERS UK Energy for Offices rating. Can I still promote my building as NABERS UK certified?

Any certified Energy for Offices ratings can continue to be promoted, as per the branding guidelines, during the rating validity period (generally 12 months).

Design for Performance (DfP) clients

I want to register a Design for Performance Project. What happens now?

My building has received a DfP Design Reviewed target rating. Can I still promote my building?

Yes, your DfP target rating remains valid until you receive your first actual rating. NABERS UK users can still make use of the NABERS UK logo and trademark, in accordance with the Design for Performance brand guidelines.

Once the transfer has been processed by CIBSE Certification, and status reviewed and confirmed with NABERS, the rating will be listed on our register

I have registered for a Design for Performance rating and have not completed the Independent Design Review (IDR) process. What do I do next?

Any Independent Design Reviews in progress should continue as normal and be submitted to CIBSE Certification once the design-reviewed target rating has been confirmed by your IDR panellist, and the Design for Performance Agreement has been transferred (novated) from BRE to CIBSE Certification.

BRE will be in contact with all DfP Agreement holders directly to arrange the novation (transfer) of these to CIBSE Certification. If you have any queries regarding this process, or have changed your contact details since originally registering with BRE, please contact BRE directly, at enquiries@bregroup.com clearly marked “Attention NABERS UK Team”.

Once the transfer has been processed by CIBSE Certification, and current status reviewed and confirmed with NABERS, the rating will be listed on our register. CIBSE Certification will then liaise with the applicant and update status on the register as appropriate.
